This topic dominates black radio, tv, and blogs. Round table discussion are seemingly held amongst are sisters at a monthly rate to tackle the issue. I have my opinions as to why this is an issue and solutions but im here to tackle the other side of the coin...the single brotha. Im not talking about the undesirable dudes im diagnosing the successful one who seem to be traded more frequently that Randy Moss. For me its fundamental and I will break it down as such into the roots of that word fun, fund, and mental...starting with the MENTAL. In a lot of cases black males (and females) are born into familes with out a father or a quality relationship for young boys to observe up close. As a young boy/man you see your mother struggle with relationships and even though you love your mother you blame her subconsciously because as a man its easy to see thing from the male point of view and harder from the females perspective. You see how hard it is to make a relationship work from an early age and like most things that are hard you avoid it rather than embracing it and overcoming the issue. Growning up my uncles told me to have FUN and don't settle down to early but they always fail to say don't settle down to late. Im 29 and too tell my brothers who are 17 and 18 to have fun but I say it with somewhat of a disclaimer. If you want to date multiple girls do it. If you don't want the responsibility of a now don't get in one because you have enough to think about such as college and a career path. But lastly I tell them if a good one comes along who treats you right don't pass over it like god women come along all the time because contrary to what most media says black women can be just as messed up as black men. You see most of us men want to have as much fun as possible which usually mean hooking up with a few women along the way and hanging out with our homeboys whenever we want. I once thought this was as well...but I grew up. I still like chillen with the fellas and wish I could do it more but shit, I wish I could stay home and play videogames more as well but I bring my ass to work. Why? Because you have to find balance. The way I see it is what I want to do and what I have to do go hand and hand. In order for me to even play videogames for just an hour I have to work so that I can pay the electric bill, have a nice tv to play them on, and be able to buy new ones when I want. Same applies to relationships. In order to be with fine, intelligent, black women I have to be in a relationship because no black women of quality is going to let you cum and go as you please...pun intended. What ends up happening is as you reach a certain level of success you Funds increase and then you start thing all these women want you for is your loot so you aint gonna let that happen. Plus you see all these young girls and somewhere in your head you believe they want you cause of your looks but in reality all they want is the money. What you look like doesn't matter as long as your card looks platinum and your rims look shiney. As I mentioned I'm 29 and I consider myself a successful, good looking black man. I've reached many of my goals and are working to reach new ones and I can say I dont want to be playing the field at 40 nor do I want to be that old dude at Love that remembers when it was Dream, trying to be cool with people half my age. Women out number us in the DC metropolitan area and when you factor in the incarceration rates and gay men, we really have our pick. Maybe thats the problem. You ever go to buy a car and they just have too many with too many options and it takes hours to pick one? Maybe thats the problem. We have our pick and we know it so we can wait as long as we want. The reality is black women are not waiting for us as men of other races swoop in to have a taste of what we've been eating (and dont say you don't) all this time. These men have everything we have and more (good credit). So while they are getting the attention of our sistas your chillen probably gay or waiting for a blond hair, blue eye Becky to call your own. Lol but even they turn into 270 pound Rossannes but hey I guess an eye for and eye.
Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.4

Oscar Grant: Wake Up, Stand Up, And Man Up.

Here we go again. Another instance of a black man being gunned down, not by one of our own like the media seems to always show, but by another police officer. I'm sure most of you know the story or have heard about Oscar Grant being shot in the back of his head as he was held down by police. The officer was sentenced to just 2 years. The jury said that there was sufficient evidence to believe the officer thought the weapon he was firing not his pistol but his taser. How does an a police officer not know when he is holding a gun or a taser? Shit, even a toddler knows the difference between his dick and balls. What a lame reason not to levy a "real" sentence on this man. this is the video of the shooting. you can here the gun shot around the 2:52 mark http://youtu.be/jFNDK8PQGNw. Very sad. I guess it's a coincidence that Mississippi Burning is on as I write this. Out of this tragedy comes many blacks protesting this unfortunate act of violence as so often happens when a black man is done wrong by those with power in this country and it gets national attention. My wish for us (blacks) is to stand up whenever these things happen... the ones that don't get media coverage. This isn't the first time this has happened nor will it be the last until we bring attention to all the misdeeds that are done to our own. it also means that we must stand together behind the scenes and in public. We are to divided between the haves and the have nots. We have too many blacks who don't want to risk loosing their middle class life to stand up and the poor blacks who keep allowing our own youth to destroy our own communities and dim our future. My mind is so jumbled with thoughts on this whole situation I'm finding it hard t get everything out so I will just say a few things I think we need to do.
1. Vote: Media says only 4.7% of us voted. That's ridiculous. If you want to be heard this is a way to get every ones attention.

2. Education: We need more blacks attending college and trade schools.

3. Politics: We need more of us running for public office. We also need to understand how government works from our local officials all the way to the President.

4. Non-Profits: We have so many organizations out here to help us with various issues. We need to seek them out.

5. Unity: Speaks for itself.

Those are some key things I think we should work on but I know there are so many others so help when and where you can. Since King and X, we have come far but it seems we are going full circle with another black man killed and a white man getting off easy... and that's the reality of the situation.

Mossed Out

At some point I had to chime in officially on this Randy Moss thing. I want to make it clear that I am and will always be a Randy fan. He is the most gifted receiver ever to play in the NFL. Few will deny that fact but unfortunately few will deny blaming him for everything that has took place Minnesota or New England. It seems Brad Childress may not know what he is doing. He traded a 3rd rd pick to get Moss, and I like most old Minny fans were happy Moss was home and we were waiting for the fire works...well we got them...sort of. Randy was brought in to stretch the field and allow Percy Harvin to play the slot position where he is most comfortable. While Moss' numbers dont jump off the page check out Percy's before Moss/after Moss numbers. They improved. The problem is the Vikings were not the team from last year. The defense went from being top 5 to not mentioned at all (where the hell is Jared Allen?). The offense sputtered like like a 1970 Gremlin with Bret Favre driving like a 88 year old man on Sunday. Bringing Randy in was like adding a spoiler to a car that just needed to be junked and when the car wouldn't start it was the spoilers fault. Lol, even Stevie Wonder can see where the blame should be placed...at Brad Childress door step like a burning pile of dog shit and then a little piss should be sprinkled on Favre's lawn. Rumor has it Childress (who I might start calling Chilli because this drama reminds me of the short lived reality show What chilli wants) didn't like Randy's post game remarks after the NE beat down. According to many reports Chilli will come down on players who speak out against the "team agenda". Funny how fast Chilli forgets how he threw Favre under the bus after that Greenbay game saying Bret needs to play in the system. When has Bret ever played in a "system"? It's well documented that those two have banged heads before. Next is Bret. He is a HOF player whos time has ran out. At some point you need to step aside. How the hell is a 41 year old man playing pro football w/ a bad elbow and 2 broken bones in his foot? If Chilli had any balls he would have benched him for health reasons and poor play and started Tavaris Jackson but he how could he after he hand delivered Bret $18 milly in straight cash homey (Randy voice)? He has been picking up Bret's dry cleaning (do you dry clean Wranglers?) and washing his John Deer tractor every Sunday. Most outsiders think Childress has lost his locker room even before Randy got there and I think this was a way to show who has the power...lol guess he forgot to tell the Vikes owner Zigi Wilf. So Randy Gets waived and people say he was a distraction to the team. Lol oh really? So what would you call the on going Favre saga? They look at New England and say they had to get rid of Moss because he's a cancer. The truth is they did what they do to all great players once its time to pay...trade them. Was Randy Showing his displeasure with them not giving him a contract extention? Yes. Do you know why? Randy was making $18 mil a year when the Pats aquired him from Oakland and he restructured his deal for "the team". Was Tom Brandy a very good player before Randy? Yes, but with Randy people put him on Peyton's level as the 2 shattered records. Since the trade Tom and Bill Belichick have both raved about Randy's skills and how much of a "team" guy he ways. Yet, the media has tried to spend that story going as far as reporting on an "alleged" argument between Randy and Tom over Randy's beard and Tom's hair. Really im not making this up. They said he "quit in Oakland. Who doesn't? Shit, John Madden isn't walking on that sideline anymore. That was the worst place for him to land...until this most recent stint with the Vikes. Last but not least I blame the NFL. We live in a society that loves "reality". Why is it that players should have to talk to the media after a bad loss? If you watched Randy's interview he was clearly emotional and if his history in the NFL tells us anything its that he is going to speak his mind. So when he chose not to speak with the media last week he was fined $25 grand. You want the media/fans to connect with players like never before and then you want to sensor it. Can't have it both ways. It's very sad how this is turning out but it may be for the best. As for everyone counting Randy Moss out, I say look how he responded when you thought he was washed up in Oakland and he landed in New England. He was straight cash homey!
Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.4

Going in Circles

I mentioned in my last post that their are many programs built for us by us (no fubu lmao) that our own people don't take advantage of. I found this increasingly true when I did Supplied for Success, Beyond Today, Inc's first event. A simple school drive to donate backpacks full of the school supplies to less fortunate kids. I want to say that Supplied for Success was a success as you can see here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Beyond-TodayInc/393687023474 and Y.O.U.R Community center was instrumental in helping me partner with West Education Center in D.C. to get these supplies into that hands of their students. The end product was great but getting there was a struggle. We contacted countless schools by email, mail, and phone through out Baltimore, P.G County, and D.C. We also reached out to several churches. No luck with any of that. We were told to just drop it off (yeah so it can just sit in some broom closet). We were told by many administrations that they would have to check with someone else. We were told that they have already partnered with another organization (as if more than one is a bad thing). In most cases we never spoke to the "decision maker" and when we did we found that these leaders were really not in the lead. These people really were not chiefs but really just Indians dressed to play the part. I dare not mention which schools and churches were unwilling to work with us for a greater good because maybe they will see the error in their ways and work on being better. The lack of leadership and partnership is disgusting. We have more than one problem in our community therefor it requires many working partnerships to reach a common goal. In this particular situation those in charge drag their feet and while they keep moving at a snail like pace its the kids who get stuck. If you have someone willing to help it is your duty to take advantage of it. Just because I'm not your frat brother, I don't attend your church, or we didn't grow up together doesn't mean we shouldn't share a circle. He acknowledge that racism exist and their are things in place to hold us back but we shouldn't use that as an excuse. I kind of agree. I totally agree that their are things such as grants, scholarships, even programs created for us by us (no fubu lmao) to build up our community we don't seek out. What Russ failed to mention is how much our government helps immigrants. Some come here without formal education, yet they get degrees rather quickly. They come here without credit yet receive funds to start businesses. Hell, even some come here without a pot to piss in yet in just a short time have automatic flushing toilets! Make no mistake this has little to do with an immigrant. By all means take advantage of the opportunities given to you. The issue is with our country and a system that was designed to keep blacks behind. I think you can view how rapidly the Hispanic population has grown and how much power they are gaining. The people who created this system and the ones who maintain it have spent all their time focusing on us (blacks) that they left the back door open and a whole lot of people crept in. Washington, Jefferson, and Adams didn't view other races as a threat on American soil when they were building...well actually we (blacks) were building, and they (European Whites) were stealing form the Indians. Other races come to America without having to deal with the 500 year old elephant in the room called slavery. They also don't deal with underfunded schools, imprisoned fathers, and mothers who are left to pick up the pieces of shattered dreams. They also don't have to deal with their leaders being assassinated (MX &MLK) or even their sports hero's being targeted by he media (Vick,Kobe,Tiger,OJ). The paint hasn't even dried on the images from the Jim Crow era. Now when "opportunity" is discussed we must dissect it accordingly because we just don't compete with whites. In a lot of companies diversity doesn't mean more blacks it means more Asians and Hispanics. Don't be fooled by a companies "diversity initiative". If they operate in areas the serve a large number of blacks why is the board of directors always made up of men that look like the father from different strokes? This isn't diversity. I'm not blind to the fact that we have a lot of self inflicted hard. We must improve our standard and way of life. We (blacks) must do better TOGETHER but it seems like were stuck between a rock and a hard place. White America (the rock) who refuses to acknowledge as a whole, that this system holds us back, and foreigners/immigrants (the hard place) who don't understand why we struggle and feel the way we do.

If GOD Is Willing And Da Creek Don't Rise

Shout out to Spike Lee for giving me something to write about. I have been in writers limbo for a while. Last night while watching his documentary on what Katrina did to the gulf and the governments response, it infuriated me . Once again politics took over and non-sense out weighed common sense. Why were faulty barriers built? Why didn't people step up and claim responsibility. Why is it five years later and that part of our country is still in shambles? Homes destroyed, people dead, and families displaced. The government has failed to do what it was set up to do and that is work for the people. Big business and back room deals prevailed. Katrina brought out the best and worst of our society. It showed that we are strong and will work to over come the worst situations. It also showed that we will use any means to manipulate people and make a buck. The human spirit is powerful but so is greed. Have you ever wondered what happens to the money you donate to help people? You make you donation and you sit back and say "I did my part". You call your friends and co-workers and ask about what they are doing to help. Bottom line is for all you know your donation is going to someone who doesn't need it. You put it in the hands of those you view as responsible and expect them to ration it out accordingly but then you see a documentary like If GOD Is Willing.... and you wake up. Jay Z rapped "sure I ponied up a mill but I didn't give my time/ so in reality I didn't give a dime or a damn/ i just put my money in the hands of the same people who left my people stranded". He did what most did and that's the reality of the situation.

http://www.hbo.com/documentaries/if-god-is-willing-and-da-creek-dont-rise/index.html?cmpid=ABC489#/documentaries/if-god-is-willing-and-da-creek-dont-rise/index.html

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVgYqRX3_XY

Obama looking out for black farmers. For some reason it made me look at Tony Dungy even closer. Allow me to indulge you on my thoughts of Mr. Dungy. As a coach he has 1 Super Bowl victory. More than most. I would also argue that the 2002 Tampa Bay Superbowl ring that John Gruden sports belongs to to Tony since he put that team together. Also, if Jim Caldwell wins with the Colts this Sunday then I will gladly pay the postage to send his ring to Tony myself. So that's 3 rings. Pretty good huh. Also adding he is the only black Super Bowl winning coach in history. Funny isn't it? Only one black head coach to win the Super Bowl with a league that is 90% black. Another thought for another blog. Tony has since retired and moved on to broadcasting. Most ex-pro players and coaches only do this as a part time job until the next big payday comes. Not Tony, as he has turned down multiple offers to be a front office executive for a team and a coach. Either of which would probably make him the highest paid at his position. Some how he has transformed himself as a man with all the answers (much like myself). Most notably with his impact on Commissioner Roger Goddell's decision to reinstate Micheal Vick into the NFL. I don't think Vick head a chance without Tony Dungy vouching for him. In a sport as a I mentioned before that is predominately black but the faces of the sport are always white, Dungy gives us a sound voice and opinion. He speaks out against injustices such as the lack of black head coaches at top schools in college. He mentors college athletes like LaGarrett Blount when it seemed the whole world had painted him out as a thug and thrown him to the way side. To me Tony is a throw back. He represents a time when black sports figures cared about more than how there sneakers sold. Thanks Jordan. He reminds me of Bill Russell, Jim Brown, and Muhammad Ali. Guys who spoke about how they felt regardless of how unsettling it made white America. Hes Johnnie Cochran without a law degree. He defends us int he court of public opinion...and wins. He represents a well rounded black man. They say he is "christian" but like most religions Christians can be judgemental and he seems the least bit that. I admire those who can preach to me but don't sound preachy. He can relate to anyone of any background or color just the same. He is the image of a strong, smart, loving black man. Most of us don't have that at home and in most cases mainstream society doesn't show it on TV or in the movies. For all of those things (and many more) I view him as the greatest football coach ever. He doesn't yell, scream, or curse like a Bill Parcells but you hear him just as clear and even better...YOU LISTEN.

For details on him just check out his bio:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Dungy

McDonalds and Hip Hop

Go to http://www.365black.com/365black/ads.jsp to view the new McDonald's rap video.

Last night I was watching the tube and maybe I'm just late or maybe it just didn't bother me until now but when did Micky D's turn hip hop? I'm sure no one on the board of directors resembles Russell Simmons and last I checked Ronald McDonald had white skin and red hair. Now he might rock a bush but he damn sure ain't a brotha. Lets look at the facts shall we. The majority of Americans are over weight. Some school systems have even taken gym off the curriculum. We already know black kids don't get very nutritious meals for a variety of reasons. Also, a lot of black people are over weight. We don't like to admit it but it's true. We suffer from strokes, heart attacks, and high blood pressure like no other. We love food that isn't healthy. Hell, I love a full rack of ribs. I eat McDonald's about 5 times a year. I ate it a lot more as a kid and can't really stand it that much these days. It's quick, cheap,a and now hip hop? Really? I don't know if these commercials are airing in lets say Ohio like they are hear int he DC metropolitan area but I'm a tad offended. As if there aren't already enough ways for blacks to harm there bodies now Ronald Reagan...I mean McDonald is trying to give us other avenue. You know, if crack and HIV doesn't work have a big mac snack wrap. Maybe I'm being a little over sensitive but damn do I really need some black chick with kinky hair rapping "up early in the morning thought my day would be wack/ until I, turned on the TV and heard breakfast is back". Why not just turn an old negro spiritual hymn into a commercial. Just another part of our culture that is being used by corporate giants to mock us and destroy us...and that's the reality of the situation.

Post racist era?

When Barack became President so many people (mainly whites) viewed America as being beyond it's ugly past. You know the past that ripped Africans away from there home land. The past that raped, killed, and enslaved our ancestors. The past that wouldn't even allow my grandfather to drink from the same fountain as a white woman. MSNBC host Chris Matthews saying after the recent State of the Union address of Barack "I forgot he was black". I wonder if he said he forgot Bush was white when he spoke. Having a black President doesn't mean blacks now have a voice. He can't possably represent just blacks because if he did he wouldn't be president. I recently had a conversation with someone who raised the point that blacks have more opportunities and that things are equal. Well after our conversation he saw things a little different. I told him about how in my 28 years I have been called nigger by whites as a child. How "black" names such as Shaquita and Rayshawn on resumes get pushed back down to the bottle of the stack. How why I do believe we have more opportunity that our parents and grandparents we have not come far enough. The civil rights movement was just 50 years ago. It takes generations to change the way people think. Basically 50 years doesn't erase the 500 we were set back. Why is it so hard for politicians and those on TV to admit the after effects of Americas greatest crime. The scars of such a horrific time may look healed on our skin but have been passed down in our DNA. An example of this is when we speak of reparations. Congress has said its to hard to trace our roots to pin point who should qualify but I beg to differ. Most states still have records of what slaves came into its harbors. In Maryland head to Annapolis to research ours. But the DNA scar I speak of is that one. White slave masters raping our female ancestors and fathering children. Diluting our heritage so that it would be harder to trace our roots. America is so quick to fight for the rights of others being mistreated around the world but fails to acknowledge its own short comings. In the movie "ALI" Will Smith put it best as he played Mohammed Ali when he said "You my opposer when I want freedom. You my opposer when I want justice. You my opposer when I want equality. Want me to go somewhere and fight for you? You won't even stand up for me right here in America, for my rights and my religious beliefs. You won't even stand up for my right here at home." Yes we have more black business owners and execs and those in management positions that ever. We also have more blacks in prison, poverty, and uneducated and thats the reality of the situation.

I'm saying, can I hold $20 baby?

Damn this is something that just popped in my mind. I remember it being a Martin episode. Ladies, I ask are yall cool with making more than your man? Shit, I guess I should be asking is would your man be cool with that. I would be. Makes me no never mind as long as you holding me down like I hold you down and that you understand sometimes things may be out of my budget. Like if yall were getting married and you wanted a $10k ring and all he could afford was $2k would you be cool? If you drove a BMW and he drove a Saturn would you be willing to ride shotgun? I mean we live in a society especially in the black world were our sistas will and can make more that the brothas. Black women complete college at a higher rate than men. Also when a company is looking to hire you they are killing to birds with one stone (your a woman and your ethnic). Also how would your family feel, particularly your parents. I mean you making $90k and he making $40k and to them it always seems like you supporting him. Would you expect him to pay for diner most of the time like most women do? You want a good man that will love and support you but that man may not come in the form of a $100 bill but rather a $20 and thats the reality of the situation.

CHILD SUPPORT...THE BIG PAY DAY

I don't know if yall have heard how much Russell Simmons is paying Kimora Lee in child support but I'm going to break it down. He agrees to pay $20k each for his daughters. Pretty steep huh? Well it doesn't stop there. He also has to buy Kimora a car that cost at least $60k and replace it every 3 years annnnnnnnd the buck doesn't stop there. He may only see his kids once every 8 weeks and on random holidays accompanied by at least a nanny and security person. You would think a man paying all that could see his kids whenever he wants. I'm sure hes also paying a huge chunk of loot in alimony to this woman and he gave her baby phat and is letting her run phat farm. Now I bring this up today to show how lopsided and foolish the Judaical system is when it comes to a dads parental rights and what he should provide for his kids. I wouldn't have a problem with the $40k if lets say $30k of it were going into some kind of saving for his daughters for future use. And the car thing is just out of this world. What, is this woman broke? We never know what goes on behind close doors but Russell is always portrayed as a loving father and I have never heard Kimora bad mouth him. Now this man is worth in excess of $400 million but does that mean he should just write his ex a check and let her decide how the money will benefit the children. I think when a man is paying child support a courts should audit the ex-spouses accounts each year to make sure that money is being used appropriately. Its bad enough that these young chicks will do anything for a rapper/athlete a drop once off in her drawers and this is why they do it. Child support should not be you meal ticket or your way out the hood. SAD SAD SAD. And thats the reality of the situation.

IIIIMMMMM BAAAAAACK

Damn yall sorry I haven't posted anything a while. Just been gone for a minute but now I'm back up in it. So much shit is going on in the world but the most pressing issue is our economy. So many people loosing there jobs and homes. Crazy. Along with those losses come gains in crime. Best believe if you flossing someone is watching. And when people are stressed out over money the usually turn to a familiar friend...the bottle. Some prefer goose, some prefer nuvo, some prefer henny (I know I do) and it sure shows. Every Friday when the work week ends for me I come home and have a glass of gold rum straight from Trinidad. Its mad strong and melos me out. I don't drink it to get drunk but just to chill. I also have an un-opened bottle of that black label henny (limited edition to honor Barack). I'm saving that though but I damn sure crushed the other bottle I bought. So I'm thinking people struggling trying to keep there money right but we all need things to keep our mind off our problems for just a lil bit. I hit this spot with my homeboys Saturday night, right. First off these dudes must not know its a recession cause it was $40 at the door. I'm like are you serious but fuck it cause we drove a lil ways so its whatever. I get in and its packed. Crowd is chill, everyone having a good time mingling and such. Then what seems to be the song of choice these days "blame it on the alcohol" comes on and I'm sure that's what everyone was doing the next day...blaming it on the al al al al al cohol. Man everyone had a drink. And I mean drinks don't come cheap. I hope people were not charging those shots of patron to there visa cause 21% interest on that shot is a killer. But it was as if everyone had forgotten whatever issues or problems they are facing as Americans. And the best part was there wasn't anyone trying to act tough or get reckless. Mad chill. I know I was mad super relaxed thanks to the 3 hennys(straight) and the shot of whatever that bartender hooked me up with. On the way home I was telling my homeboy that I haven't been out in a while and I needed that. I'm sure I wasn't the only person saying that...and then the next day regretting it lol. But what I'm trying to say is it was good to see people smiling. I see so many sad faces on TV and in my office (I'm a banker if you ain't know, now you know) and it was truly nice to see people enjoying life. We all have to work hard to do our part in fixing America but we should also play hard when we can and that's the reality of the situation.

CONGRATS PRESIDENT OBAMA

What a moment we just witnessed. A black man officially named President of the United States. This accomplishment can not be overstated. I feel a great sense of pride because now the overwhelming image of a black man is not a drug dealer or thief. It's not a deadbeat dad. It's not a rapper or athlete. It's a Harvard grad. It's a black man married to a black woman. It's an image of intelligence, confidence, and strength. Say what you will but he is the right person for this job. I only have one concern. Its the notion that since we have a black president all is well in black America. Many have reference ML K's "I have a dream speech", saying that Barack is that dream. I think that Barack was in that dream but what Dr. King in visioned was much larger than The president and I'm sure even he would admit that. We all have a role to play and lets help him. Don't sit around waiting for him to help you. Over the course of his 1st term in office lets see black high school dropout rates go down. Lets see less black men going to jail. Lets see more black college grads. He can't make all of that happen on his own. Everyone is calling him an inspiration and I agree with that tag but I'm sure there will be days when he need inspiration and what better way to make sure he has it than by doing our part as black Americans and getting off our asses and making a difference wherever we can. Think about it.

WOMEN BE CREEPING

Yo fellas, have yall noticed how chicks be creeping? It use to be all about men being dogs but man woman be doing there thing these days. Picture this. Your a good dude. You respect your women, buy her things, and cook dinner. You work hard and have a bright future. You think that all of these things make your woman happy...or do they? Yes on the surface this would make most women happy but there is one thing that is very important in a relationship that people try and down play...its that 12 play. Making her body do the Harlem shake and making her toes curl to make a black power fist. Oh yes this is a must. If your not hitting it right best believe someone else is or will. She going out with her girls and she got her hair done rocking that freakum dress Beyonce told her to wear. Mean while you thinking like "shit she don't get done up like that for me. All I ever see her in is some big ass draws and a head wrap". She talking about "baby I love you but we just having a girls night out". Uh huh. She loves the attention she gets from other men. She tight and she knows it and other guys make sure to remind her daily so she knows she can get some on the hush if she want. All of a sudden that girls night out once a month turns in to three times a month. And the sex yall was having has dropped from 5 times a week to like 1. Sad. Now what you guys have to remember is that a women's sexual appetite grows with age. While ours winds down theirs is just getting started. Women don't hit there sexual peaks until after 30 so if you got to go get some of them "blue diamonds" to stay strong do it. Women love sex as much as men. They want a man to make love to them some nights and beat that thing like a pinata other nights. Pardon my french but you have to love her right and fuck her right. A women who isn't getting it right stands out like Shaq in a crowd of midgets. And most guys are cool with hitting that on the low even when they know she has a man at home. What do they care, they getting to ride around in a nice car without having to keep up any maintenance. The big thing is women are far better liars than men. If we cheat were bound to get caught but if she cheating you might not ever know until she wants you to know. Her girls won't tell you unless one of them wants to fuck, but that's another story for another time. Bottom line is keep your eyes on the prize...fill up her heart as well as her thighs...

SO YOUR GONNA RIOT...AND FUCK UP YOUR OWN SHIT?

I don't know if you have heard but the police have killed another black man guilty of nothing. Transit police responded to what was said to be a fight on the train in Oakland CA. The story is sketchy from there but what happens next is clear. A black man was face down on the ground and one of the police officers shoots him in the back of the head. Out ragged? You should be but are you mad enough to destroy your own community? That's what the residents in Oakland did. Why is it that when we feel wronged we don't go after those who wronged us we just mess up our own stuff? I'm not one to promote this kind of mayhem but if your gonna brake up some shit you should have taken a ride down to Hollywood. That's how you get the nations attention. This isn't the first time (or the last I'm sure) that this has went down. Remember the L.A. riots that jumped off after the Rodney King beating. Don't throw a trash can through the African braiding spot, thrown one through the windows at the hair cuttery. We will also do anything to make sure that a woman doesn't take it away. I mean it's crazy. All of a sudden niggas are going shoe shopping every weekend with there girls knowing damn well football is on. Not hanging out with the fellas anymore...and when they do they have to get permission. Now last I checked I only had one mama and I stopped asking her if I could go out when I was 17. Fellas whats up? I'm not saying don't love, respect, and treat your woman right but wheres your balls? Oh I know, she had them amputated and bronzed like your mom did your baby shoes and now they are hanging from here rear view mirror in her car. Whats up with getting up with the fellas once a month to chill? Hell she goes out with her girl 5 or 6 times a month. She out with her freakum dress on and you up in the crib with your du rag on and flip flops watching sports center. We ain't 70 years old man. Get out and have some fun. Stop being afraid that she gonna spaz on you. Stop being afraid that shes gonna hold out on sex. And most of all stop being afraid that shes going to leave your ass cause last I checked woman out number men in the state of Maryland and trust me she isn't going anywhere if your a good dude. A man that stands up to a woman is a man that is respected by a woman. And again I'm not saying disrespect her but but if you give anyone an inch they will take a mile. Stand your ground.

University of Black America

Have yall heard about the Georgia senator trying to get two black colleges to merge with two white schools close to them? Well if not check it out http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28262287/ . But this got me thinking about the role that black universities and colleges play in the U.S. and in the black America. I'm a true believer that if it were not for these institutions of higher learning that even more blacks wouldn't attend school or complete it. We all know education is important and it is lacking in our community but I also question if these schools are doing all they can. First off a lot of these schools curriculum's are actually behind there white counter parts...mostly because the public school systems blacks grow up in is in shambles and not teaching anything, thus forcing black colleges to focus on the "ABC'S" of there college courses. The classes are sometimes slower, easier, and less demanding that at white schools. I also think that sometimes black students get pushed through a little bit because the administrations at these schools knows the scarcity of college degrees in our community. But does this help or hurt? Yes it's great to have the paper that says your graduated but then what happens when you get that job and have no idea what your boss is talking to you about? It is kind of like the "no child left behind" program in D.C. I know white America makes it harder for us to achieve success but is making it a little easier the right message to send to our youth? You be the judge on that. I also think that since we do not learn how to interact with one another while growing up that should be a point of interest to the schools. Teach these young men and women how to speak, listen, and respect one another. By making it easier and not working on those kinds of issues we play right into the "MANS" hands. Now by all means I'm not saying if you went to a black school you had an easy ride. I'm just bring attention to thing we should discuss. We all went to school with that kid who never came to class but some how got a grade better that yours. I went to Shaw University (brief stint), I had friends at Hampton, Norfolk, Morgan, and Howard. That being said a black campus is also not a great representation of the real world. There are only a handful of places where you will see that many blacks for extended periods of time. Very few places in the country offer all black work environments. The more money you make the fewer people like us you see. Sad but true. My women went to Towson. As much as I hated them drunk as white boys..."dude lets get a keg"...A school like that represents a better picture of the America we live in. So when I talk to my siblings about going off to college I always tell them that it was a great experience at Shaw and made a few life long Friends (Shot out to Dave, Nana, and Jeremy...fuck it and Chico, Chub, Cali, Turk, Lavar, and Bone Nose Kev lol) don't just go there because it's white or black, go because it gives you a chance to grow and succeed.

Black people, brown people...my people. I love all yall. We all the same but i don't think that everyone feels that way. There are different stereotypes associated with the different shades in which we come. For example if your a light skinned sista you may be perceived as stuck up or you think you cute...maybe even an air head just like blond haired white women. If you a light skinned brotha you are judged as a pretty boy or a playboy. If your a brown sista you may be looked at as more intelligent than your red bone counter parts but only because you have to compensate in some way for being more...chocolate. But of all the stereotypes I hear the brown brotha gets the most props. He is perceived as a protector, hard worker...more well rounded. Now any smart person will tell you the shade or color does not make the person so any of those aforementioned stereotypes could apply to us all. Now up until i was 23 all of my girlfriends had been of the red variety. It's not that I didn't find my brown sistas attractive but it just seemed to me that light skinned girls were more attracted to me and the brown ones didn't like what I was about(probably do to the stigmas i mentioned). Then I had my first brown girl at 23 and at 27 I'm in a serious relationship with a fine brown honey dip(not the one I dated at 23). But to get back on track, why do these perceptions exist? With every myth, joke, or wives tale some truth is found. I think all of this started with slavery. You had the lighter slaves working in the big house and the darker ones in the fields. The house slaves thought they were better because there work was easier and they may have had better clothes or even ate better. The field hands resented them and may have even looked at them as the weaker of the race. And with the slave masters sneaking down to the slaves quarters to get a little black love, more and more babies were being born with fair complexions. Because these were kids of the master they might have even been treated better. That is were the division started. Nowadays you have fraternities and sororities that do what is called the "brown paper bag test" to judge if you are light enough. Employers seem to hire those who are lighter. Black people get all up in arms when whites discriminate on us but we do it to each other all the time. And you know what? That's what the "MAN" wants us to do because divided we will fall. I don't think that one shade is better. I mean I'm light skinned (or so they say) and I don't like the stigma associated with me. I'm goal oriented, a provider, and most importantly I'm strong. All of us have flaws and strengths that you can't always see but one thing you will always see is that we are all BLACK. Once that sits in, we can stand up against anything. And that's the reality of the situation.

IT AINT HIP HOPS FAULT

I grew up listening to every thing from death Row to MC Hammer...(and don't laugh cause I wasn't the only one). I knew (and still do) every word to the Chronic and Doggy style. Rocked Ready to die until my tape popped. Everyday Ice Cube told me it was a good day. Now with all that said I didn't go down the wrong path. I didn't want to shoot anyone. I didn't want to sell crack. I didn't want to pimp hoes. But there was those who did, and instead of looking at the state of which these individuals grew up in, most adults immediately said it was because of the music. Really?...is that true? Nope, it isn't. The music is a reflection of the environment these rappers come from. Martin and Malcolm were products of there environments...in short without the mistreatment of blacks you wouldn't even know who those two great men were. It's not the music that makes kids want to kill/deal/or use its there surroundings. In the movie American Gangster, TI plays the nephew of Frank Lucas. TI's character is a great athlete and may be able to play pro baseball or go to college and play. Movies, music, or the media doesn't influence him to give up that dream...it is his uncles (Frank Lucus) success as a drug kingpin that does. He sees that and wants it. Same with reality. Kid sees what his daddy is doing or maybe his uncle or a friend and as wrong as it may be they emulate it. These kids know these rappers are actors. These rappers (at least the successful ones) are not back in the hood chillen on the stoop. Hell no. They have sense cause they wanted out and go out. If anything the rappers are mimicking what they saw growing up and like Denzel in American Gangster, they are acting. Jay Z isn't chillen around the Marcy Projects anymore...unless he has security. But allow me to get back on track cause I got off a little bit. Why is it the the hip hop community gets blamed when black kids act up? You don't hear the white community blaming Arnold Schwarzenegger when lil Johnny goes terminator and kills 10 people. Man look, if we clean up our communities then our means of expression would change. So if you don't like how rappers act or what they say look at who there role models were. Hip Hop is a young music genre. Only around 30 years old. Most of these rappers come from fatherless homes, raised by mom or grand mom, drunk uncles and prostituted aunts. Peanut butter and jelly and sugar water dinners. Music is a reflection of the world. The problem is black people have a hard time admitting that hip hop is a mirror image of our community...not vice versa. Rappers flaunt there riches because through out history that's what African kings and queens have done as well as African Americans. We are a stylish group who will wear our Sundays best everyday. Rappers treat women as objects that can just as easily be disregarded because that's what are fathers did...mess with one, skeet skeet, and mess with another. They are loud and in your face just like your drunk uncle. The girls (both rappers and dancers), seek attention from men because they lacked fathers. They show off there goodies because you can attract more bees with honey than vinegar...even if those bees are killer. Surround your kids with love and discipline and stop blaming everyone or everything when they do wrong. Even though I have my flaws I am blessed because I was raised with a strong foundation of self worth so even if I'm rockin to "it ain't no fun if the home's can't have none", I know that the homies ain't gettin none of mine...and that's the reality of the situation.

Undercover brothas...sad but true

Damn where do I start? We have all heard about these dudes. The brothas who date women, have girlfriends, and even wives but yet they have a disturbing secrete. The dudes who act the hardest, walk around with there chest all poked by day out only to have there ass poked out by night...disgusting. My thing is if you gay than you gay. I have no problem with that, just don't come round these parts cause I don't play...it ain't that kind of house party. But for real why all the faking bruh??? I mean why the cover up? Wait wait wait I know, you see in the white community it's acceptable to be gay but in the black community that's more taboo than...well everything. A black man is not supposed to be a sissy. So you know you can't go to the basketball courts if you come out. You can't face your family. Hell, you can't even go to the same barbershop (shot out to Supreme Cuts)...you got to go to the salon. And you don't want to lose all of that. I mean it's hard enough being black in America without having the gay tag associated with you. But if you don't want people to know that's cool. That your business but then why drag our sistas through that buuulllllshit? You out there creeping with Tommy "n" nem bringing home god knows what to your women...sad. Plus for you dudes who are married with kids you should be taken out to the shed and whipped Kunta Kinte style. You know better. Not only are you bringing home disease to your wife, once your family finds out you more open than all outdoors what does that do to your kids...messes them all up. And for real, I don't care if you have slept with 1,000 women, if you mess with one dude you gay. Stop frontin. Bottom line...you are who you are so leave all the faking to the rappers and actors.

When all else fails...blame a black man

So this topic comes up alot around me. You know, "black men ain't shit", "black men are dogs", "I'm going to date a white man"...WHAT. Us black guys sure have our flaw but we get a bad wrap and black women don't take responsibility for there short comings. Allow me to elaborate. I have had many black women tell me that if black men would get themselves together than our race would get on track. OK as a young man who's dad got low (left my mom) when I was born and who I did not even meet until I was 17 and just last year started to have some kind of relationship with, I know that alot of black men don't raise there babies. They you you pregnant and then they get shorty from around the corner pregnant. No dout that may be the single greatest thing a black man can do to hurt his family and his community. I've said it once and I will say it again, as great a job as black women do in raising black boys than fall short when trying to raise him into a black man. Only a man can raise a boy into manhood and only a woman can raise a girl into womanhood. My question is if we know that black dudes don't always raise there kids and leave everything on the mother and in most cases her mother, than why do so many black women keep spreading there legs with out being on birth control or using some kind of contraceptive? Why do you keep believing a dude really loves you after 2 dates and 5 drinks? Then you get pregnant and hate not the black man that screwed you over(no pun) but every other black dude. There is no excuse for a black man not taking care of his child but you should take a good look at the person in the mirror because you are just as much to blame for a fatherless child as a man is. I mean it is very simple, who do dogs sleep with? Bitches....and no I'm not calling you a name that is what you call a female dog. And if you think a white man will treat you better guess again. The only difference between a white and black man is credit...as in his credit score. Do you think he really wants to take you home to his mother and father in bum fuck Idaho? Do you think he wants you sipping tea with his friends wife Susan? HELL NO. It's a fantasy that white men have had since they first laid eyes on the big breasted, bubble but, curvy African women 500 years ago, sneaking down to the slave quarters to get some of that black love. Bottom line is a white man can be just as bad as those BROTHERS you are trying to get away from. I mean just pick better men to date. I love the woman I have now but when I was dating I treated the search for quality black women like I was in need of a person to run my fortune 500 company. You want someone there who can do the job, you can trust, and when shit gets funky, there not running out the backdoor. So if I were letting you into my life I'm doing a serious background check...what Martin say to the jeweler when buying a ring for Gina"lady i need your social security #). I don't play because this person could be in my life in a good way or a bad way for a long time. I guess what I'm getting at is both black men and women have flaws and alot to do with the problems facing our households. Only through helping one another can we improve upon these flaws and develop better friendships and relationships.

Black Athletes

Doesn't it seem like everytime a black athlete does something wrong its worse than anything int he world? Pacman Jones throws $80 grand at strippers, Mike Vick fights dogs, Plaxico Burress shots himeself...need i go on? There are so many cases my head is spinning. The media paints these blackmen as unfit citizens who should be stripped of there celebrity and sent back to the hoods they have come from. Meanwhile white athletes commits crimes or make stupid mistakes and it gets overlooked such as Matt Jones getting caught with cocain before the NFL season starts and he is just now being suspended and the media hasn't given that story near the time its gives lesser offenses by "blackletes". White america likes to build these blackmen up but LOVES to see them fall. And for you blackfolks out there who say "well they need to make better choices", please tell me if you were 23 years old with $10 million in your account how would you act? Would you not go out at night? Would you disown all of your friends? Would you not make any mistakes? I will tell you what, when I was 23 i could have just $10 in my account and I could make a mistake. Law enforcement and the judicial system say that they want these stars to be treated like regular people but if you or I were fighting dogs would we have to give back $20 million to our employer? Would our faces be plastered all over the tube? Nope. Whatever happened to being inocent until proven guilty? These things should outrage blacks becuase its just another sign of the double standard that exist and the racsim thats still very much alive in the US. The sad part is most black people are content with the scraps that have been given to them when they are entitled to so much more considering it was OUR ancestors who built this place.

MR. Now that I have that out of the way its time to get down to business. Black people...now that Barack is commander and chief that doesn't mean we don't have a long way to go in America. Racism is still very much alive and we are still very much at the bottom of the food chain. Obama can not eliminate crime in our community by himself. He can't stop black teen pregnancy by himself. He can't stop these or the hundreds of other problems hurting our progression without help from us all. So what you went out and voted for him...big deal that's what you should have done. Now make sure he has your support through out his whole first term so that he may be re-elected into a second one. I know some of yall think since a black man is in office you can do whatever you want... "WRONG" (in my Charlie Murphy voice). You can't go acting up and he can't just do things that benefit the black community. We didn't just put him in office and he has to play the game to win. He must help everyone. He is a great symbol for this generation because we didn't march next to Martin or fight back with Malcolm. Barack is proof that no mountain is to high and no valley is to low. He is proof that we can be more than rappers and athletes. More than drug dealers and users. More than deadbeat dads and baby mamas. More than just statistics and more than just the status quo. He has set the bar and now YOU must raise it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://4tharecord.blogspot.com/2008/12/mr-obama.html' title='MR.
